Bio: Dorin Ghisa has been born in 1940 in Romania. He graduated from the University Babes-Bolyai from Cluj-Napoca in 1963 with a degree in Mathematics. In 1976 he defended his PhD Thesys "Quasi-Conformal Mappings on Riemann Surfaces" at the University of Bucharest. During his long academic career, he has been affiliated with the West University of Timisoara, Romania, the University of Science and Technology of Algiers and in Canada with Universite de Montreal and Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Universite de Moncton and York University of Toronto. His interests were mainly in Complex Analysis, yet he published papers also in the field of Topology, Partial Differential Equations, Potential Theory and Probabilities. Some of his research has been presented in over 60 International Conferences and Congresses. Dorin Ghisa is an Emeritus Member of the American Mathematical Society.
