Title: The Consensus Tasks in Networks with Ostensible Metzler Agents

Abstract: The plenary talk concerns consensus in a network of agents with a linear ostensible Metzler structure, whose communication topologies are defined by undirected graphs. Basic observer-type consensus protocols are presented and the conditions for consensus according to given types of control protocols are analyzed. Key physical constraints of such systems are noted in the context of realistic mathematical models of physical structures for capturing the dynamics of such systems. In addition, the presentation focuses on the design of non-negative observers (possibly with time delays) that guarantee non-negative estimates of the current states of agents. The design problem is parameterized in terms of linear matrix inequalities with positive system constraints in order to build hidden positive control structures.

Bio: Dusan Krokavec graduated with honors from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia, in the field of Automation Technology, in 1967. In the years 1968-1971 he worked as a researcher at the Research Institute of Automation and Mechanization (VUMA) in Nové Mesto n/Váhom, Slovakia, in 1971 he joined the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the Technical University in Košice, where he still works today. He received his PhD in Technical Cybernetics in 1982 at the FEI STU in Bratislava, in 1984 he was appointed associate professor in Technical Cybernetics. In 1990 he completed a study stay at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) in Germany. In 1999 he habilitated in Control and Automation and in 2000 he was appointed professor in the same field. He currently works as a research scientist at the Department of Cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence, FEI TU in Košice. His professional and research activities are broad, primarily focusing on problems of Kalman filtering, fault detection of dynamic systems based on models and data approaches in control system diagnostics, methods of control synthesis using linear matrix inequalities (LMI), or control of nonlinear systems with Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) models. He is a pioneer in the field of methods of analysis and synthesis of linear positive systems with Metzler dynamics. He was a successful solver of a number of research projects. Prof. Dusan Krokavec works in the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) as a member of the technical committees TC 1.4. Stochastic Systems and TC 6.4. Fault Detection, Supervision & Safety of Technical Processes - SAFEPROCESS, and is a member of the Slovak Society for Cybernetics and Informatics (SSKI). He is the co-author of three monographs and the author or co-author of many articles published in scientific journals or proceedings of scientific conferences. He currently has 138 references in the Web of Science database as a co-author, and the Scopus database records 195 contributions with his authorship or co-authorship.
